Anything Goes

Music by Cole Porter; Book by Guy Bolton, P. G. Wodehouse, Howard Lindsay, Russel Crouse, Timothy Crouse, John Weidman; Lyrics by Cole Porter

Our hero, Billy, meets Hope after a party and falls hopelessly in love, but the beauty escapes into the night. Later, Billy must deliver a passport to his boss on board a liner bound for England. On board he meets an old flame, Reno, who invites him along. About to decline, he spots Hope, and instantly changes his mind. Two FBI agents are aboard, looking for Moonface Martin, Public Enemy #13. They think Billy knows his whereabouts; to get rid of them Billy identifies a Reverend as Moonface. The Minister is promptly thrown in jail and his two Chinese converts are left to wander unsupervised. Billy goes on to be mistaken for Public Enemy #1, and must don disguise - as the Chinese converts - to avoid capture amidst rumor that the ship is sinking. Madcap adventure culminates in all the right guys winning all the right girls.
